Jim Rechtin '93 Featured in Fortune Magazine
In an extensive interview with Fortune Magazine, Humana CEO Jim Rechtin ’93 discussed the opportunities and challenges that come with leading one of the nation’s largest companies. He also explained how experiential learning opportunities during his college years led him into the Peace Corps and ultimately prepared him to become a leader who prioritizes the art of listening.
“During my sophomore year, I did a service trip to Appalachia. I spent a month mostly living with a family there, and I walked away realizing how different life is only a couple hundred miles away from where I grew up. It got me curious: What’s it like elsewhere? So I did a service trip to Honduras and then the Dominican Republic. I wanted to learn more…the biggest thing that I realized is the power of asking questions.”
Rechtin is currently leading Humana through several significant changes in response to the evolving demands of today’s healthcare industry. Read more about his background, his leadership philosophy and his vision for the future by viewing .
